“The cottage is located in a very nice and quiet farm.”

It has a nice path walking down to the river and to some beautiful views. The private indoor swimming pool is a big plus point. The owners were kind enough to let us use it whenever we needed as we only stayed for 2 days. The pool is very secluded facing the owners private garden but as no one was out and about it meant full privacy for me and my partner. We also walked in to some lovely fresh farm milk waiting in the fridge. Keep in mind this is a self-cattering cottage which means you need to ...

Keep in mind this is a self-cattering cottage which means you need to bring everything yourself. Basics such as towels & a roll of toilet paper are provided, but any extra's, oil or other food products need to be brought by yourself (it does state this in the advert). Also keep in mind, as this is a farm there are several dogs there which are free to roam. They are very friendly and curious but be aware to expect them to walk in if you leave the door open lol! We had a lovely time there and will definitely be coming back. Only down side we had was that the shower drain was slightly clogged which meant the water wasn't draining as well and filling up so we had to quickly wash and leave before it overflew.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad that you had an enjoyable stay and were able to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside. We have spoken with the owner regarding the issue with the clogged shower drain, who has confirmed that this has been dealt with and the water is draining as it should be. We look forward to welcoming you back to Somerset, hopefully in the not-too-distant future. Owner relations

About the location

WITHYPOOL

Exford 3.3 miles; Minehead 14.4 miles.

The village of Withypool has a remote, upland character and is surrounded by open moorland. Most of the village lies on the north side of the river and follows the narrow roads along the valley contours. The traditional buildings are wrapped in lime washed rendered stonewalls with slate roofs, adding to the sense of character. Within Withypool, there are the local general stores/Post Office, and tearooms. There are excellent short and long walks in and around this destination, including the Two Moors Way that passes through the village. One of the most popular walks is a four mile riverside stroll to Tarr Steps, with wonderful scenery. Close by, the picturesque village of Exford is situated in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. In a charming setting by the River Exe, Exford boasts a village green, tea rooms, a shop, Post Office and two traditional inns serving excellent food and drinks.

Note: This property has a private water supply which has just tested with a higher than regular level of copper per litre. Whilst the owner takes remedial action, the property will be supplied with plenty of bottled water.
