Our third year at Orchard Retreat, thank you Nick for another great relaxing stay.

Property is really comfortable, quiet and well equipped and a great location for exploring the local area and beaches. We hope to return next year. Thank you Tim and Lisa

The retreat was a lovely cottage first impressions were lovely and spacious well equipped.

The host Nick was very responsive should you need him for anything. It was one of the cheapest holidays we have ever booked it was definitely a great price for such a lovely looking place. What let this place down…. It was not clean I had spent most of my first day after arriving cleaning so many spiders! They were everywhere, plus dead insects, nests and food packets down the sides of the bunk beds from previous visitors so not sure how you miss this really if you have made the beds up. Food stains on side units that had not been wiped as soon as you walked in the door. It was a massive shame because the cottage itself is absolutely stunning lovely and private with big garden. Freddie the cat came to visit a few times which my 3 young boys loved making a fuss of.

If you want peace and quiet then choose Orchard Retreat, a spacious fully equipped cottage in it's own grounds with the owner Nick iving nearby should you need help or advice.

With sand,sea,towns and a city (Exeter) close at hand you have everything you need for a great holiday.

The very private setting of the accomadation was fantastic.

Although it was built in the owners garden it was totally private with its own garden.The rear of the garden was surrounded by trees which was overlooked by a farmers field. The accomadation was very spacious and could easily accomadate a family of four. The second bedroom was bunk beds which would only be suitable for children.We went as a couple which meant we had plenty of room. To make the experience even better we would suggest that the size of the TV should be bigger. Most people paying for this type of accomadation would be used to a 50 inch TV at home. A second TV in the bedroom should also be considered. With a large garden a couple of all weather sunbeds would be useful. Having now stayed at a lot of cottages during the last few years this is the only one where there hasn't been a welcome gift. Not even a pint of milk. Perhaps the owner doesn't realise what other owners do.

Great over all, everything you need for a comfortable stay, we really enjoyed the week.

Really enjoyed our stay and was genuinely impressed with both the property and its facilities.

The apartment was very spacious, beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. If I had to make one minor criticism, it would be that the BBQ hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival, which disrupted our lunchtime plans slightly, although we managed to work around it. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and I would definitely book this property again if I’m ever back in the Devon area.

Lovely property with a very peaceful location.

Everything you need in the property and clean. A joy to sit on the garden and watch the blackbirds, robins and thrush visit for food.

Orchard Retreat is a well equipped and peaceful place to stay, set in the beautiful garden of the owner.

It is completely private with its own boundary and driveway. The single track road leading to the property is its only downside. Having said that we never met another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction during our stay. We would not hesitate to return to this property.

A delightful property in its own little haven - and away from the outside world.

Don't be put off by the external appearance of the timber pergola - its a lovely south facing space to sit and chill - and it protects you from the sun. Inside the accommodation is a delight of a simple space, with much natural light and cool modernity. We would certainly go back [again] having stayed there once before. And its close to Sidmouth as well - without miles of narrow Devon lanes to negotiate - apart from the short lane to the property. We can hghly recommend it!

Absolutely amazing house, so peaceful and owner quick to help regarding any queries.

immaculately clean, everything you could possibly need. Huge patio doors to garden from all rooms is fantastic . Close to lots of places to visit, Seaton trams, Exmouth, Donkey sanctuary, Beer alongside Sidmouth is a great place a few minutes away. We'll be back !

Orchard Retreat is a superb property.

It is very spacious, clean and comfortable and provides everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. The location is excellent being very quiet and peaceful, with a beautiful garden full of colourful plants and birdlife, and yet so convenient for exploring all the beautiful East Devon Coast Resorts and countryside. I would definitely recommend Orchard Retreat for a fantastic holiday.

Our third visit - lovely secluded location very quiet and peaceful.

Great location only couple of miles to Sidmouth and less than 30 mins to all the attractions and sights in East Devon. The accommodation is well equipped compared to a lot of places we have stayed. It is very comfortable. The accommodation is located down a small relatively steep final path - if you can navigate that then the accommodation itself is all one floor and level. The WiFi is a great speed now.

A very quiet and peaceful location everything you need for a relaxing break, we will definitely visit again .

Clean, modern, comfortable, secluded, and quiet yet within easy reach of countryside, seaside, and city. We have stayed in Orchard Retreat many times and will be back there next year.

One of the nicest holiday properties we have ever stayed at.

Waking up to the views of the beautiful peaceful garden, the whole “indoors/outdoors” feel to the layout of the cottage, spotlessly clean and very well equipped kitchen….. our hosts have thought of everything….. even down to supplying spare batteries for the tv zapper! We would recommend the cottage to anyone thinking about a laidback holiday home.

Those who have stayed at Orchard Retreat will know that the property is like entering a secret world.

Head down a winding path to a simple door in a wall, it gave no indication of what to expect from the property. Open that simple door and you find yourself in a modern comfortable space flooded by natural light. For us Orchard Retreat, an eco house, had internally exceptional comfort, and externally a lovely private garden. In one day, as well as the regular bird life, we also saw [at different times] a woodpecker, a red deer and a fox in the garden. And yes, we have booked Orchard Retreat again for 2025.

Clean, comfortable, and everything provided. We have booked again for later in the year, so I cannot think of a better compliment to the owners.

Absolute gem of a property and lives up to its name as 'Orchard Retreat', private, secluded, tranquil with a beautiful garden and views to the countryside.

We loved our stay, everything we could ask for in terms of comfort and well equipped to cater for all our needs. Could have imagined staying longer than a week as lots to see and do. Nick was incredibly helpful and attentive. We can imagine booking to come again in the future.

It is a lovely light and cosy lodge in a very peaceful area.

In a good location to access areas to explore Devon and Dorset. The lodge had everything that we needed. Even though it was Christmas, Nick was on hand if we needed him.

Lovely quiet place easy access and only half a mile from the nearest pub.

and 3 miles from the picturesque seaside town of Sidmouth highly recommended.we will return again.

One of the nicest holiday houses we've stayed in.

The situation and the style of décor really suited us. And the house comes with impressive eco-credentials that aren't really mentioned in the details (solar panels, sorghum roof, etc). Very private location, up a quiet lane.

An absolute gem of a holiday lodge.

So quiet and peaceful with a lovely view overlooking the garden. We were slightly worried about the narrow road to approach the lodge but it turned out not to be a problem. We really enjoyed our week, especially as the weather was great.

Delightful property and good position for exploring Sidmouth and surrounding areas.

The setting in an area of outstanding natural beauty made it altogether perfect.

We have stayed in the cottage twice before and it is the best one we have ever stayed in.

It has everything we need for a quiet relaxed and restful break. I've tried to think of a downside but I really can't. We will be back.

This modern property has been expertly designed and built to provide clean and comfortable accommodation in the heart of a beautiful area of Devon yet with easy access to the coast.

The hosts are friendly and obliging without being intrusive. Will definitely stay here again! Great place to relax and get away from it all.

We really enjoyed our stay at Orchard Retreat.

The views over the garden are lovely. Very well furnished and equipped. Beautifully clean and comfortable. We were glad that we had brought teabags and milk with us so that we could have a cuppa on arrival as this is the first cottage we have stayed at for ages where these were not provided.

Another great stay at Orchard Retreat.

Our fourth holiday there and we have already booked for next year. Orchard Retreat is spacious, modern, and extremely clean with all the facilities you need. The property is tucked away down a short country lane in it's own grounds adjacent to the owner's house (but not overlooked) and it is extremely quiet and private yet within easy reach of East Devon beaches, towns and attractions. We love it.

We really enjoyed staying here.

The owner is next door - very lovely and never intrusive but there if you need them. The cottage is so peaceful and well equipped. Freddie the lovely cat visited from next door which I thoroughly enjoyed. We could have stayed there another week easily ( if only work would allow) 5star from us. Can't wait to return. Thank you Nick & Sue for opening your holiday home for people to enjoy.

The property was very comfortable and warm on the colder days Well equipped and centrally placed to explore the surrounding area.

Great outside space (which we managed to use on the first couple of days when the weather was warmer) both with lovely outlook and being very peaceful and restful Great hosts who were always available to help. Would definitely recommend

Lovely cottage.

The BEST. Beautiful location even in February. We will probably find it impossible to stay away!!!

Wi-fi was feeble (I understand very soon to be upgraded) and the road leading to the property was extremely narrow.

If I had been aware of these two issues beforehand, I would not have booked. However, as it turned out, everything else was excellent and more than made up for the above. So much so, we have already booked another stay!

Quiet and secluded and within easy reach of the coast, countryside and city (Exeter). This was our third holiday in Orchard Retreat and we have already booked for next year.

Nick and Sue were great hosts.

It's a lovely tranquil spot and the house is modern and very well kitted out - the big windows looking out on the garden were delightful. We had a wonderful time.

Beautiful location and setting.

Much better than photos. It was charming to wake up next to the lush green gardens, divided just through glass sliding doors from the bedroom. Fantastic living space and plenty of room for 4. It wasn't the cleanest but not a show stopper. Overall, loved it and hopefully will be back.

The pictures don't do it justice its a really lovely space and garden.

Nick is very friendly and any issues we had he sorted very quickly. The double at the bottom of the bunk is more than adequate for a single adult. We walked out the door and 2 days and there is fantastic views from the plantation behind the cottage.

A lovely comfortable lodge which is very modern and has everything you would need in comparison with your own home.

The setting was perfect with lovely views to the immaculate garden. A special private place to relax and unwind. The hosts, Nick and Sue, were very pleasant and were not at all obtrusive but you felt you could approach them if you needed any assistance. The weather was a bonus as it only rained on our journey home.

Orchard Retreat was everything it promised to be : Modern,quiet, fully equipped, ultra clean and in a great position for the seaside, local towns and Exeter city.

We have booked again for next year.

It was a very beautiful and relaxing property.

The children lived the amazing garden and we enjoyed it’s peace and tranquility. The house and facilities were excellent. The location was great for exploring East Devon and we visited many beautiful beaches.

Orchard Retreat was a fantastic cottage.

Everything you need is in the cottage. The view from the main bedroom was amazing looking onto the lovely garden. It was a great base for exploring the area. We didn't have great weather but we still managed to have a lovely family week. Our granddaughter loved running around the garden. We had a barbeque on the last night which was great. Sue and Nick were on hand if we had any questions. We certainly hope to return.

Orchard Retreat is an exceptional cottage, although it is located next to the owner's property the cottage has total privacy and there are good views over a stream and hillside.

The standard of construction of the cottage is high and the garden is attractive. The location of the cottage is close to a network of footpaths so we were able to walk for four or five hours directly from the cottage onto interesting walks. There are attractions nearby within a short drive including Sidmouth, Branscombe and the Donkey Sanctuary; it is also not too far from Exeter.

The property was lovely and a beautiful location.

The garden in the winter is good for viewing birds as there are very large trees at the end with no leaves so you can see straight through. The large windows straight into the garden we particularly enjoyed early in the morning when opening the doors you could hear birds singing and watch them in the feeders.

Orchard retreat is a very well appointed bungalow with a wildlife garden.

The owner is very helpful. This was our 2nd stay at this very nice property. 1st class.

Lovely accommodation, very peaceful and so quiet!

Beautifully appointed and an easy place to stay. Will certainly return if we come to the area again. Only criticism was on the booking side. Personally I would rather deal with owners direct on initial booking rather than wait for final payment when details are then released. My message to Sykes that we wouldn’t be staying for a whole week was not passed on to owners and they didn’t know until I phoned regarding key collection about a week before our arrival

Over the years we have stayed at a lot of cottages in France and Brittain (around 70) .

Beautiful cottage, very peaceful, excellent inside, everything included.

Ideal location for traveling up and down the coast. In our view the design of the cottage is superb, could not fault it. Gardens and grounds are a haven for wildlife, we spent many hours looking out at all the activity. Could happily live there !!! Would not hesitate in recommending to family and friends.

This was just about the BEST place we have ever stayed and was just what we needed at quite a stressful time of our lives.

Spotlessly clean. Totally quiet with a beautiful garden to enjoy. Host we lovely but unobtrusive. Although out of the way, we were not far from the coast, walks and amenities. O', and the sun shone!!!!!
