Anthony “We found lovely walk along strawberry line with our dog.”
Maybe a good idea to remind guests that there are no street lights. It is pitch dark, walking up from main road. We loved the village and local pub.
- Anthony, March 2025Sue “Lovely place to stay.”
So clean and smelt beautiful on entering. Owner was so nice. Very unexpected bottle of local wine in the fridge and tea and coffee provided on arrival. Jenny made us so welcome. It was sooooo quiet there you could hear a pin drop. Great place to get away from it all.

Diane “We had a nice peaceful stay at Glebe Lodge.”
The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need. On a personal level I found the bed very uncomfortable and the sofa sunk so low I struggled to get up. My husband got stuck in the sofa and could only sit in the armchair. The cottage is advertised as dog friendly but there was no where for our dog to run we had to take him to a park 4 miles away in Wells. The host Jenny was very kind and helpful and gave us lots of information. The welcome pack was very nice.
- Diane, July 2024Your comments are noted. Thank you for staying with me. Property Owner

Diane “Glebe Lodge is situated in a good position for visiting Cheddar, Wells and the beautiful Mendips.”
The cottage itself is quite small, but cosy, clean and very well equipped. Our host, Jenny, was lovely, there to help and has lots of advice for places to go. Westbury-sub-Mendip is an interesting village with lots of winding lanes, and views across the valley. We had a great Sunday lunch at the Westbury Inn. We had a lovely week.

Jane “We had a lovely short break.”
The cottage was perfect for us and we hope to be back! The pub is well worth a visit - we had a lovely meal in the bar with our dog.
- Jane, November 2023John “We have marked this down slightly because of the bathroom.”
The lighting in the bathroom is very poor, as is the water pressure leading to a very feeble shower (although there was sufficient pressure to flush the toilet - strange!).
- John, November 2023Water pressure is back to normal. Your feedback is welcomed and I am always striving for perfection in my Lodge. Property Owner
Melvyn “Cottage was wonderfully clean and comfortable and contained everything you would need for a great stay and more besides .”
Jenny was lovely , thanks for the wine etc.

The cottage is well equiped with everything you need, very comfortable, and the beds are so comfortable. We will be returning again as soon as possible. Thanks Jenny. regards Barry and Rod.
- Barry, October 2023Nora “Wonderful stay at this bungalow which met all our needs.”
The only negative is the television is not a smart tv.
- Nora, September 2023A big apology Nora, I highly value my returning guests, and this is your 4th stay with me. Unfortunately the smart tv in my property stopped working and as temporary measures I replaced it with one from my home unaware that it was not a smart tv. I will ensure I purchase a new smart tv for Glebe lodge to ensure my facilities meet the high standard my guests expect. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I hope your stay wasn’t spoilt to much kindest regards Property Owner
John “A lovely cottage, recommended would definitely stay there again when visiting the area.”
- John, August 2023Roy “Would give more than 5 if I could, this is the 3rd time we've stayed here & Jenny greeted us like old friends.”
She has everything you could possible need even an umbrella & shopping bag can't recommend this cottage highly enough ,
- Roy, July 2023Lovely to welcome you back again and thank you for your wonderful review, always a pleasure seeing returning friends and of course Toby dog. Property Owner
Audrey “Jenny lives next door and was available by text message.”
She was very welcoming and had left us a pint of milk, a packet of chocolate biscuits and a bottle of local Mendip white wine for our arrival. A very comfortable home for two and a pet. I would happily visit there again if I return to the Wells area.
- Audrey, June 2023Margaret “Lovely cosy cottage, Jenny very friendly and helpful, not intrusive.”
Soo Lovely welcome pack. Brilliant holiday, close to all amenities.... spotlessly clean, would certainly recommend lovely holiday. Thank you Jenny x
- Margaret, April 2023Sylvia “The cottage is absolutely perfect in every way!”
Just as you see it online, and even better in actuality. The bed was comfortable. Jenny could not have been more kind and helpful, and has thought of everything you might possibly need in the cottage. I don’t drive in UK, but a bus service with stops right down the road runs between Cheddar and Wells, both great towns to visit. I recommend a car though, if you don’t have family in the area as I do. Thank you, Jenny for another fabulous stay, and for the wonderful Reiki treatment. I will see you next time! Sylvia
- Sylvia, March 2023Olivia “We had the best welcome.”
The lodge was spotless, warm and the added touches (milk and wine) made us feel immediately at home. The information pack was incredible. We can't fault anything. Thank you so much Jenny!
- Olivia, February 2023Laura “My second stay, which is testament to Jenny and how welcome she makes her guests feel - right at home.”
She really does go the extra mile in every way and it is very much appreciated. Hope to stay again.
- Laura, February 2023Jill “Jenny was very attentive and extremely thoughtful with our particular set of circumstances.”
She went out her way to discover our interests enabling her to give us all the relevant information.
- Jill, February 2023Laura “Can't thank Jenny enough for making me feel so welcome - there is not a single thing that she hasn't thought of, in terms of what you might forget to pack, and what you'd appreciate to make you feel right at home (including a bottle of locally produced wine!”
). Always a bonus to be able to do laundry (even if you'd rather be enjoying the countryside). Just a cosy home from home, where you can enjoy glorious sunsets and see so many stars at night! A little about the village: you'll most likely be driving, but the (cash only) 126 bus service stops right at the bottom of the hill where the cottage is situated. It runs throughout the day, but stops around teatime and there are no Sunday buses, so please bear that in mind if you're needing buses. I was able to get a taxi from Wells for £14. You might appreciate that if you're arriving after dark, as it's country roads with no street lighting (or pavements for that matter). Having said that, it was perfectly fine going for walks, so long as you stick to the outside bend of the road. You can also get to Cheddar Gorge very easily on the bus, and it might be an idea to do so a) because it really is gorge-ous (sorry! Couldn't resist) and b) to show demand for a bus service facing cuts (a lot of folk seem to depend upon it). You can get off at the Tween Town stop, which is right at the base of the Gorge. There is also a trespass shop there if you need any equipment etc. Just keep an eye on the time for your return bus! I got the half 12ish bus there and half 4ish bus back and that was ample time. Westbury-sub-Mendip also has a small village shop (open limited hours at the weekend) including a post office (handy for cash withdrawals) and a restaurant/pub. And a hairdressers if you're so inclined. Everything you need really. Anything else you should be able to readily get in Wells.
- Laura, January 2023Catherine “Our stay a Glebe Lodge was great.”
It was clean, comfortable and we had everything we needed. It was also in a great location, close to Glastonbury and Wells. We've already recommended the property to others.
- Catherine, December 2022Caroline “A great place to stay lovely area and great food at the Westbury inn public house i found the cottage ideal for a relaxed break , my one issue was the lack of the single easy chair which appears on description and photos but was missing.”
jenny was very friendly and got milk and cake for our arrival which was very kind. would stay again.
- Caroline, December 2022Unfortunately I needed to remove the leather chair prior to your arrival as the chair had been badly scratched by a previous dog that stayed and will be available again soon once the repairs have been carried out. Biggest apologies for any inconvenience caused but I try to maintain a very high standard for my guests. Property Owner
Amanda “Jenny the owner gave us a warm welcome soon after we had arrived and was happy to give us any information we needed.”
This place is a little gem as it is cosy, comfortable, has a well equipped kitchen and is in such a quiet residential area even though the main road is literally 2 minutes away on foot. There is a wonderful stocked up village shop run by the community in the village and bus stops nearby to Wells and Cheddar. We hope to return and stay here again sometime. Would definitely recommend this place.
- Amanda, December 2022Ian “Glebe Lodge is an absolute pleasure, warm comfortable and such a well equipped kitchen you could have catered for a party.”
Jenny the owner is a lovely lady, who gave us some ideas of places to go and see, she recommended the local Westbury Inn, where we had a really lovely meal at an excellent price. Wouldn't hesitate to stay at Glebe Lodge again.
- Ian, November 2022Lynn “The owner Jenny was an absolute diamond, she did everything she could to make sure we got the most out of our holiday by recommending places to go and ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we needed.”

- Pat, August 2022Janice “We had a lovely few days.”
First time my dog had stayed in someone else’s house but he settled straight away. The garden is totally secure , I had no need to worry about him getting out. My dog is quite small but he was safe. Location brilliant. No complaints at all. Description is extremely actuate. I would highly recommend this accommodation. When we arrived the was everything need for tea & coffee included vet nice biscuits. A lovely bottle of Mendip wine also chilled in the fridge. Good choice if DVD’s Superb all round. Jenny popped over too. A delightful Lady.
- Janice, July 2022Helen “Jenny the lodge owner is an amazing host.”

- Margaret, March 2022Sarah “Very helpful and friendly.”
- Sarah, March 2022Allie “Absolutely lovely cottage in a quaint little village.”
All facilities were available for us on arrival together with tea/coffee/sugar/milk and a bottle of local wine all left as a kind welcome gift from the cottage owner. The cottage is down a small lane/driveway so is nicely tucked away and very quiet. It is surrounded by country lanes for dog walking.
- Allie, February 2022Robert “We had a happy stay with you, we felt very welcome and comfortable, really enjoyed the break, plenty to see and do even thought it was February !”
! Thanks again. Rob & Carol Harris
- Robert, January 2022Nigel “Warm, Comfortable and suited my needs perfectly.”
- Nigel, January 2022Jeannette “Glebe cottage was a lovely clean and well equipped holiday home which was comfortable and warm, perfect for us and our dog.”
We had to work from home during our visit and the internet speed was excellent. The host was very welcoming and communication was very good. Westbury is a lovely village with amazing walks at the doorstep, with the convenience of the local pub and shop within a short walk. It’s a perfect location to visit the nearby small city of Wells, Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury. It’s also within an hour of Bristol and Bath. We would definitely rebook and recommend.

It suited our needs for the 3 nights of our stay. We did lots of walking and enjoyed the Levels landscape and the Mendip hills....wonderful expansive views. The only downside, we were sorry that there was no view from the cottage. Thank you to the owner for her friendly welcome and the very good bottle of local wine.

- Nora, October 2021Ernest “Over the years We have had cottages in many places but this had everything we needed could not have wished the pub in the village exactly what was needed ,Jennifer who owned the cottage so helpful all the help you could need.”
We will be back.
- Ernest, October 2021Roger “Cottage contains everything you could need for a week away.”
Owner Jenny was very helpful and approachable, the bottle of wine and tea ect, were very welcome.Would recommend the cottage to all who like the countryside.Local pub,Westbury Inn does good food at reasonable prices.Only drawback is the main road walk to the pub or shop which doesn't have a pavement and with the corners can be quite hair-raising,hence the score of 9 overall.
- Roger, September 2021John “The property was very well furnished throughout, and the owner Jenny had kindly laid on some extras in the form of local wine and some other goodies for our arrival.”

We could not have asked for more. The area was beautiful and the owner extremely helpful.
- Christine, April 2021Cynthia “The cottage was really lovely, comfy bed and sofa and very nice reclining chair.”
The only thing I would say is that a larger fridge freezer would be nice, but other than that everything was lovely and we will return one day.
- Cynthia, April 2021Tim “Glebe cottage was lovely, great place for exploring area.”
Maybe parking at cottage a bit awkward, but that's only a minor point. Everything you need in cottage, awesome host, and a great bottle of wine from her vineyard.
- Tim, October 2020Linda “These are not complaints but observations.”
I think it would be nice to have a small sofa to sit on so people can sit together. Also we felt a little uncomfortable about opening the curtains in the morning when we were in our pj’s as the owners upstairs windows look straight into the cottages windows. Maybe some sort of blind or Net / voile curtains. The long curtains in the living area do not meet when closed therefore letting light in which disturbed our elderly dog at night. We had to peg them together.
- Linda, October 2020Thank you for your valued comment and I have now purchased a beautiful two seater sofa and angled it so as to make the sitting area more private from anyone outside . The curtains all meet together now which also add privacy for my more sensitive customers and their dogs. I always welcome suggestions to improve my holiday let and keep it to a high standard Property Owner

We felt totally at home stopping there, it was a real home from home. We particularly liked the French windows which opened out on to the small patio area. Glebe Lodge is well positioned, with plenty to see and do within easy travelling distance.

Centrally located in a peaceful village setting. The owner is wonderful, very friendly but unobtrusive and obviously cares a lot about her customers. Perfect location for a relaxing break or to explore Somerset.
- Christine, July 2014Mary-Ann “An excellently equipped property which is spotlessly clean.”
Being all on one level and with twin beds made it most suitable for my elderly mother and I travelling . Wonderful location within easy distance of Wells where there are a number of supermarkets. The owner , a welcoming and friendly lady, has provided a 'home from home' and is on hand to offer whatever level of assistance or information required. We enjoyed a fabulous week in Westbury, visiting Wells with its impressive cathedral , Glastonbury village and abbey, Bath, Weston-super-Mare and Cheddar. A truly memorable holiday in superb accommodation.

Beautifully positioned in the Mendips. Close walks for the dog and yet only minutes away from the beautiful city of Wells with all the culture and Cathedral. It is the second time in 6 months that I have stayed there and I am delighted. Cant wait to stay again! The owner is a wonderfully helpful person!

The cottage was comfortable & very well equipped with kitchen equipment etc. We were there in late February/early March & found the heating kept us nice & cosy. There was a good selection of books & games. It was also suitable for our little dog & there were plenty of places to walk her, she was very happy there!

The lodge was immaculately clean, well fitted out and equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is dog friendly and there is a little enclosed garden, which is unusual to find. Our host provided an O/S map, so we were able to find plenty of nice walks. Everything was cosy, warm and comfortable and lovely and quiet.
