“Lights didn't work in the Lounge, kitchen, swimming area and outside.”
Ants infested the kitchen and dining area. This made storing food and preparing food extremely difficult.
Building construction was being done across the pond at the bottom of the rear garden, so the noise was unbearable and we had to return home early. I did inform the owner. No apology...!!
The swimming pool would flood water everywhere around the pool, especially on the left hand side, which made walking around the pool dangerous and unsafe. The facilities were dirty with a stained toilet and rusty washing machine.
The toilets didn't supply enough toilet paper. I had to purchase some from the local convenience store.
The kitchen area was dirty and stained, especially around the sink and kitchen counter tops. The vinyl around the kitchen cupboards, dish washer is falling off and sharp in places.
Whilst staying the Gardener appeared. This wasn't communicated to me via the owner. This startled me, as I wasn't expecting anyone to be there...!! It is a shame as the house is set in a gorgeous location. Many issues let it down...!!!!!

Prior to your visit, we carried out extensive electrical work. Unfortunately, the lights in the pool changing room toilet and shower were still not functioning. I did inform you of this ahead of your arrival. While the pool room lights were fully operational and could provide sufficient illumination to the changing area at night (with the door open), I understand this was not ideal—particularly for guests swimming at night and needing to change in that space.
Regarding the kitchen and lounge lighting: one of the three hanging bulbs over the kitchen bar had gone out, which I noticed during my inspection on Sunday 30th and replaced immediately. The lounge light switch was also fixed. I did not receive any communication from you during your stay about these issues; had I been informed, I would have arranged for someone to resolve them promptly.
The property was professionally cleaned for 10 hours prior to your arrival. I will follow up with the cleaning team regarding the concerns you raised about cleanliness in the kitchen and facilities.
The pool operates on an automatic top-up system, which can make water levels tricky to balance. All surrounding tiles are non-slip, but splashing from use can cause temporary wet areas. While we do our best to maintain safety, it’s not possible to keep the pool room floor completely dry at all times.
The building across the road is outside of my control, and I apologise for any disruption caused. The gardener occasionally adjusts his schedule to ensure the grounds are well maintained. I understand this was unexpected and I apologise for any inconvenience or surprise caused.
As for the condition of the house, it is not advertised as brand new, and some wear and tear is present. However, we strive to maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment.
I’m truly sorry that these issues impacted your stay, especially given the beautiful location of the property.
