    “We had a fantastic week in our lodge at Swandown.”

    The lodge itself was fantastic. I’d struggle to find anything that could be improved. The lodge was clean, modern and well maintained. The gardens were beautiful and the view from the patio out over the fields was tranquil and relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped. We ate out a lot but there was ample crockery, cutlery and glasses for our needs (and a dishwasher to wash them up!). We used the on site pool once but it was a bit small for our older teens. We used the Warner pool and gym and ...

The gardens were beautiful and the view from the patio out over the fields was tranquil and relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped. We ate out a lot but there was ample crockery, cutlery and glasses for our needs (and a dishwasher to wash them up!). We used the on site pool once but it was a bit small for our older teens. We used the Warner pool and gym and these were great. We also had a stroll in the hotel grounds which were also very interesting. The Staff were friendly and helpful. A small issue with our hot tub was quickly fixed and we made lots of use of the free games, dvds and jigsaws etc available to borrow from reception. I thought this was a lovely touch and made the evenings fly by. We were a little disappointed by the immediate local area. There were not a huge number of places to eat. There was a pub down a narrow lane, but both Chard and Crewkerne were sparse on decent places to eat. We ate at lunchtime a lot and ventured to Taunton one evening on the hunt for a pub or restaurant our teens would enjoy. But overall we had a great week and some great days out (Wells was very interesting, Lyne Regis was bustling, Seaton tramway was fun and we also loved Forde Abbey) . We would definitely recommend and might return ourselves one day.

This lavish three-bedroom lodge, 14 Goldenhaye, is located within the 1,000-acre Swandown Lodges Estate in Cricket St. Thomas, Somerset.

The lodge is perfect for a family of six, couples, and friends alike, providing access to several on-site amenities, including an exclusive spa for adults and a child-friendly adventure trail.

It also includes beautifully presented bedrooms, a bright and airy living area, and a social garden with a hot tub and barbecue; ideal for summer months.

After utilising the well-equipped kitchen, enter the suntrap living area, which features floor to ceiling cathedral windows, luxurious sofas, a woodburning stove, and a formal dining table, ideal for resting upon.

CRICKET ST. THOMAS

Chard 4 miles; Crewkerne 4 miles; Yeovil 13 miles.

The parish of Cricket St. Thomas in South Somerset is situated just off the A30 and is 4 miles equidistant between Chard to the west and Crewkerne to the east.  It borders West Dorset and East Devon and is ideally situated to explore these three beautiful counties of the West Country. The traditional English countryside is shown at its best in this beautiful valley with the rolling hills of Somerset
and Dorset stretching into the distance. The Cricket St Thomas Lakes and Gardens are to be found here along with the beautiful 19th century Cricket House, famous as the setting for the television series “To the Manor Born” and which now forms part of the Warner Cricket St Thomas Hotel.

This location enables easy access not only to the stunning Somerset countryside but also to its many attractions and those of the adjoining counties including, within easy travelling distance, the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum at Lyme Regis; the Fleet Air Arm Museum, which is located 7 miles north of Yeovil; the prestigious Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford and for those interested in historical properties and gardens there are numerous to choose from including Barrington Court (NT), near Ilminster, Montacute House (NT) at Montacute and Tintinhull Gardens (NT) near Yeovil, Lytes Cary Manor, Nr Somerton, Minterne Gardens at Minterne Magna and the Cerne Giant at nearby Cerne Abbas.
