“Property although small was fine for two people, every thing in the cottage for our week stay was there including very generous welcome pack.”

The hot tub was great clean and up to temp on our arrival and ready for use, which has not been the case on lots of other lodges we’ve used over the years.I found the whole week very relaxing we both slept really well, the walks from the lodge were fantastic you could spend days walking through the forest and exploring old mine works absolute beautiful part of the country.we would certainly consider going back to this lodge in the future both hosts are obviously very efficient at what they do ...

The property

Set peacefully in woodland, about 2 miles from Gulworthy, a detached stone-built single-storey cottage, once serving nearby Wheal Josiah, the richest copper mine in Europe.

With the mine long abandoned, the cottage has been thoughtfully restored.

Lime-rendered walls and oak floors complement stylish decor, and your own 4-person hot tub and private woodland garden (table/chairs, barbecue) complete an idyllic spot to unwind.

Beyond the garden, acres of woodland and the Tamar Trails for walking/cycling; activity centre (tree-surfing) and café, around 20 minute walk.

Nearest pub, 1½ miles. From terrace at the front, ceiling-high, glazed bi-fold doors into living/dining room (woodburner, TV/DVD, iPod dock); smart kitchen (slimline dishwasher, combi-microwave, fridge, electric oven/gas hob).

Double bedroom (6' zip-linked bed or twin).

Bathroom (suite with roll-top bath plus hand-shower, separate shower).

Use of washing machine, by arrangement.

Spring water.

A peaceful and picturesque retreat where you can choose to do as little or as much as you wish. Gulworthy: hamlet (outdoor activity centre/café, Horn of Plenty restaurant) 3 miles from Tavistock, deep in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just on the Devon side of the River Tamar (canoe expeditions).

Nat.

Trust Cotehele House and Buckland Abbey, 4 and 6 miles; Morwellham Quay (location of BBC's 'Edwardian Farm'), 4 miles.

Plymouth with its shops, theatres, Nat.

Marine Aquarium and historic Barbican, 11 miles.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
