“We had a lovely stay and would happily return.”
The cottage is a good size with an excellent layout for five adults and two dogs. There was plenty of comfortable seating, and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed.
The location is excellent. It's close enough to walk into Port Isaac, even for dinner at Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, and although the walk back is uphill, it's really not too bad. We also loved the walk to Port Quin, which was perfect for early mornings and evening strolls with the dogs.
The outdoor shower was a real bonus. It was ideal for rinsing off the dogs after walks and washing wetsuits after time at the beach. It would be even better if the property also had a barbecue for outdoor meals.
The cottage was generally clean and well presented. It would be worth mentioning in the property details that there is an upstairs toilet and basin, as we found this really useful.
There are a few areas where the property could be improved. The light fitting over the dining table feels like a safety hazard and should be replaced. We also noticed quite a few ants in the kitchen, which appeared to be coming in beneath the windows.
The welcome supplies were rather limited. Most holiday cottages provide enough washing-up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet paper and dishwasher tablets to last at least the first week. We only received a very small amount, including just two dishwasher tablets, which felt a little mean for the length of the stay.
The only issue we experienced that wasn't the owners' fault was late-night noise from nearby partying, which continued until around 3am on one night. It was too warm to close the windows, so those sleeping upstairs were disturbed.
Finally, the pillows could do with replacing, as they weren't particularly comfortable.
Overall, though, this is a well-located, spacious and comfortable cottage that worked really well for our group, and we'd certainly consider staying again.
