Why book a cottage in Porthcurno?
Visit the beautiful town of Porthcurno to encounter white, sandy beaches, rugged coastline and stunning countryside. Situated in West Cornwall, Porthcurno has an intriguing history as well as being a paradise for nature lovers.
For one hundred years the village was used as a centre for transatlantic communications. At its peak the cable office was operating as many as 14 submarine telegraph cables. You can learn all about the history of this industry at the Telegraph Museum.
Porthcurno Beach has won numerous awards and was used as the location for Nampara Cove in the TV adaptation of Poldark. It is ideal for families with young children as there is a stream that flows down one side of the beach, providing safe waters to paddle in. Overlooking the beach is the Minack Theatre, a magnificent open-air theatre that hosts plays by companies from all over the world.
Places to visit near Porthcurno
Travel east along the coast to visit the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole, famous for its annual Christmas lights display, and the historic port of Penzance.
