The most varied coast in Devon: rock pool coves and harbours between oak-wooded cliffs, great sandy surfing beaches (Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton), the Taw and Torridge estuaries with their birdlife and cycle tracks, views of Lundy Island, and the multi-coloured cliffs and rocks of Hartland like dinosaurs' backs. Inland, the hill-farmland of Exmoor's edge turns to soft valleys and the most peaceful, sparsely populated part of the West Country.
