Why book a cottage in Westward Ho!?
Named after Charles Kingsley’s book of the same name, Westward Ho! Is famous for being the only town in the UK to have an exclamation mark in its name. Located on the North Devon coast, the beach holds Blue Flag status and the area is one of the most popular surfing spots in the country. There are a number of activity centres situated near the beach if you want lessons in surfing, kayaking or paddleboarding.
There are also miles of coastline to walk, offering stunning views out to sea. Northam Burrows Country Park has 253 acres of countryside to explore and is home to an abundance of wildlife and rare plants.
There are lots of places to enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink with a good choice of cafés, pubs and restaurants.
Places to visit near Westward Ho!
At the convergence of the River Torridge and River Taw is the village of Appledore. From here you can jump on a ferry and cross the river to explore Instow. South from Appledore is the port town of Bideford, where you can find a traditional Pannier market and a hub of independent shops.
